ADL’s: Activities of daily living, e.g. bathing, dressing
Assisted Living: An apartment within a supportive environment. Providing a
wide range of choices and specialized services. Assistance w/ADL.s
Continuing Care Retirement Communities: These are campuses that offer the different levels of care.
These provide, to the resident, the security of knowing that regardless of clinical status, in most
instances, their care needs can be accommodated in one of the facilities located right on campus.
Independent Living with Services: Maintaining an independent lifestyle w/inclusive services.
RCF: Licensed Assisted Living RCF stands for Residential Care Facility.
Residential Care Facility (formerly rest home) RCF: Licensed by the State of Ohio. These facilities exist
for individuals who need skilled intermittent care. These residents are typically somewhat more compromised by
physical limitations but are not ready for long term care status. Physical limitations would include: bathing,
dressing, medication administration, and help with transfers, etc.
Retirement Communities: This is a complex that offers recreation and security, dining room, / meals and health screenings.
